I was given the opertunity to both design and help build the custom costume for a customer earlier this year. The parts I handled personally were the armour bits and the custom buttons that I sculpted and then casted in resign before painting.
Scale Mail

I made this a few years back in a metals working class. I used between 500 and 700 bronze colored scales and between 1,000 and 1,300 rings of different colors. For this top I mastered the classic European four by four and Byzantine chainmail weaves. This project took around a month to complete.

This was my first attempt at any sort of puppetry. This costume build was a group effort. I was in charge of creating the head and the hands. I did not do the paint job. The head was sculpted starting with an eva foam base and then by adding and adding and carving packing foam on top. The packing foam was kept down with masking tape. I created the skin texture by adding tissue paper and covering it in glue.
